Welcome |
We all know that
we can't always be responsible for what happens to us,
but that we are responsible for how we react to any
situation. Never is this more evident than in times of
trauma or pain. |
 | We've heard reports of
large men pushing past, and sometimes knocking down, women and
young children in order to get onto boats during the Canadian
and American rescue missions from Lebanon. We've also heard of
people giving their precious water to babies trying to survive
the heat. Most of us personally know someone who has weathered
a storm with grace and consideration -- and others who have
not.
This past month I had some personal trauma, and I
found I made the decision -- as best I could -- to handle it
with grace. I believe I did.
If you haven't read The
Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, I suggest you take a
look at it. It changed the way I interact with life. It might
work for you too. And, oh yes, don't forget to tell those you
love, that you do!
Namaste, Georgina

be working with them on their show, so if the message applies

us. And plan to make the change! |

A Cut Above: Healing Quickly and
Successfully After Surgery |
| by Dr. Georgina
Cannon | |
|
|
For most people, the prospect of having
surgery or "going under the knife" is terrifying. Giving
total control of your life to a comparative stranger who
will make changes to your body, cutting pieces off or
out, or sometimes putting pieces in or moving pieces
around? The idea of cutting into flesh is abhorrent --
and let's face it, scary!
But there is a way of
making the whole process more acceptable to mind and
body, and encouraging the healing process so that you
can surprise the doctors and yourself with how quickly
and dynamically you heal. I'll give you some overall
suggestions and then tell you the protocol I've been
using in the weeks following my own surgery. The process
breaks down into three sections:
Pre-surgery Once you are over the
shock of having to face surgery, start using
self-hypnosis to let your body know the surgery will be
happening for healing purposes. It helps alleviate the
trauma of invasion. Start visualizing the healing and
the coming together of tissues, the ease of blood flow
and energy returning to your body. In other words,
visualize success at all levels.
My
protocol: Listened to the Healing the Body CD at
least twice a day for 10 days prior to surgery. Visited
my superb naturopathic doctor, Dr. Leslie Ee, for
acupuncture to balance the energy in my body, Myers
Injections (vitamins and minerals) and other supplements
to prepare the tissue to heal. Stopped these treatments
three days prior to surgery.
During Surgery
and Immediate Recovery Turn yourself over to the
process, knowing that you have the best surgical team
available. (You did do your research and check them out,
didn't you?) This is no time for control issues or
dignity. You will be poked, prodded and looked at in the
most embarrassing positions -- realize that it doesn't
matter. Don't be afraid to ask questions about your meds
and process. Treat the hospital staff gently and with
respect and they will do the same for you.
My
protocol: Listened to the Healing the Body CD as
many times as I could each day in the hospital. Drank
water. Slept. Walked as often as I could and imagined I
was taking my IV pole for a walk. I gave it a name
too.... Percy. Gotta find a giggle somewhere! I made
sure I frequently said "thank you" to my body, my nurses
and those who came to visit or who phoned.
After Surgery, Recovering at Home This
is the hardest. You're in familiar surroundings, but
your energy is lower than you may be used to. Your brain
isn't engaging like it should. You see things around the
house, now that you're home during the day, that really
need fixing or doing. Don't!
This is a time of
recuperation and healing. Listen to healing music and
healing hypnosis. (Yup, that CD again!) Take some gentle
walks around the block. Stop and chat to dogs and their
walkers. Read a silly book, one that you might read at
the beach. Start your vitamin regime, and take the time
to really consider what you're eating and how it makes
you feel. Get aquainted with the siesta -- it's a great
tradition that we should bring here from Spain!
Give yourself at least two full weeks before
making any life-changing decisions. Surgery does change
your perception of life -- for the better -- if you
allow it. You appreciate life and those you share it
with more. Let it happen.
My protocol:
Back to Dr. Ee for more acupuncture (boy, does it boost
my energy!) and the Myers injections. Finding ways to
'gentle-down' my life, starting with very gentle
exercises just to get the body moving. Using the Healing
the Body CD and visualizing a strong, healthy body.
Waking up each morning with a 'thank you' and counting
my blessings each evening.
As I write this, I'm
just over two weeks post-surgery, and although the
energy isn't where I want it, the incision is healing
fast and beginning to fade, my mind is connected, and
the doc says I'm way ahead of the usual healing
trajectory.
It feels great to own my healing. By
using hypnosis and other healing modalities, my body is
responding well, and I know this will soon be just a
memory.

| Manifesting Change |
| by Karen
Eardley | |
|
|
 |
We often hear about the
power of positive thinking and the idea that what
goes around comes around. Many authors of New Age
books, such as Eckhart Tolle, Caroline Myss and
Deepak Chopra, as well as inspirational speakers,
expound the belief that your attitude shapes your
reality. | Louise L. Hay
long ago identified that emotions held in the body often
manifest themselves as physical dis-ease; this is now
receiving clinical affirmation. In fact, it is estimated
that 75- 85% of illness is directly related to stress.
Studies have shown that Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is
related to holding on to negativity.
Our
emotions, sometimes defined as energy in motion, are
powerful vibrations that constantly move around and in
us. Edgar Cayce, known as the Sleeping Prophet, asserted
that "Mind is the Builder" and "It is thought and
feeling which guides the universe, not deeds." What he
was essentially saying is that the mind is the true
source of ideas, and these ideas create vibrations or
patterns.
Many Native American spiritual
teachings suggest we are each the author of our own
plays. We have control of our play by remaining awake
and aware in the "dream" which we call reality today.
So how can you use this knowledge to make
changes in your life that bring you closer to the person
you want to be? How can you make your life more
fulfilled, more blissful, more giving to others? The
answer seems to be:
Believe it. See
it. Feel it.
First, you need to believe that
you can achieve a goal, to believe that by holding the
intent, it will happen. Next, use imagery to create that
which you seek and bring in your emotions. Feel
how that success feels to you.
By visualizing
and feeling success, you hold energy in your being,
thereby attracting energy to you, which in turn creates
your success. The more your imagery comes alive, the
more emotions are evoked, the stronger the energy
becomes (emotion = energy in motion) and the more easily
your goal manifests.
Techniques to Manifest
Change Hypnosis can assist in manifesting change
in a similar way:
- Accurately define your desire.
- Bring your success alive: What does success look
or feel like? What emotions or thoughts do you need to
hold to get there? What are the benefits?
- Enter into hypnosis (the alpha wave state).
- Begin visualizing yourself in the future with all
of the attributes of your success.
- See and feel yourself in several future events
with these attributes.
- Experience the emotions from these events and feel
the success.
- If you are with a hypnotherapist, these feelings
will be anchored into your body's cells and your mind.
- Gently come out of your alpha wave state with the
feelings.
- Repeat daily for one month.
Now is the
time for increasing numbers of people to begin taking
responsibility for their lives, including creating the
life they deeply and truly desire by tapping into the
infinite energy of the universe. Are you ready to be all
you can be?

PAST LIFE
REGRESSION WORKSHOP Dr.
Georgina Cannon will be running an intensive
two-day workshop on past life regression at this
year's NGH convention in Marlborough,
Massachusetts (just outside of Boston).
This workshop will add to, and build on,
what you already do or practice in your field.
Because clients frequently “slip into” past
lives when regressing to the initial sensitizing
event, the professional hypnotist needs to
understand how to work in this field in an
effective, healing and ethical way.
This
is a soul journey process that includes
forgiveness, healing and wisdom. We also cover
life between lives and the journey and decisions
made before birth.
You'll find full
details and a registration link on the NGH
web site. | |

I went to see The
Inconvenient Solution movie with Al Gore. I
expected to be moved by the film, but didn't
expect to be charmed by it, or by him. It is
wonderful and very worth seeing. As well as being
full of important information, it is entertaining,
and Al is terrific -- thoughtful, smart, funny and
cute -- all very easy to take! Go see it.... it
won't play as well on the CD!
