Welcome |
Happy New
Year! And what a super way to start off the year with a
very successful cross-Canada World Hypnotism Day on
January 4th. There were events spanning our country from
coast to coast including free sessions for people on
welfare from Wanda Mang in Regina. It was a good day,
spreading the word about the benefits of hypnosis and
how it improves the quality of life.
|
 | There was a
great response all around, both from the hypnotists
participating and the folks responding in every community. In
Toronto we had the largest gathering ever (250 people) who
came to The Sutton Place Hotel to learn about hypnosis and
relax. >From the comments received, they did both! Thanks
to Robert Doyle, president of the Ontario Association of
Hypnotherapists, who co-presented with me. And grateful thanks
to Zoe Pepler who co-ordinated the cross-Canada program.
I'm now looking forward to a busy, eventful year, and
wishing you health, success and lots of giggles for 2006.
Namaste, Georgina
P.S. We'll be teaching
the two-day past life regression course again at the National
Guild of Hypnotists Convention's Summer Institute, August 9
and 10, in Marlborough, MA (just outside of Boston). Visit https://www.ngh.net/convreg.htm
to register. |

| Why Weight? Let's Start
Communicating |
| by Jane
Briggs | |
|
|
 |
The cornerstone to
any good relationship is communication. No
truer words have ever been spoken -- and the most
important relationship you will ever have in this
lifetime is the one you have with yourself. You
are the most important person in your world. For
without you, there would be no world for
you. | From my experience as a
past yo-yo dieter, as well as from the many weight loss
clients I have had the privilege of working with, weight
problems ultimately stem from a breakdown in
communication within us. How that translates into our
own individual lives is a unique experience for each and
every one of us. As much as the diet gurus would like us
to believe and invest in their secret formulas, books,
potions and pills, most of us on some level know that,
for the most part, we gain weight when we consume more
energy (food) than we use.
Communication is the
foundation from which we can build the body we choose to
live within. We have the power to choose and we have the
power to communicate.
As a world community, we
have developed a tremendous ability to communicate
through advanced technology. With a push of a button,
one can converse with another person who is thousands of
miles away. How strange, yet clear, that the more we
have advanced our communications through technology the
more we appear to have lost touch with communicating
with ourselves -- obesity is rising, weight-related
diseases abound.
When the communication between
our mind and body is poor, we will undoubtedly
experience living within a perfect reflection of that.
Knowing that our mind will reach whatever goal we set
for it, one must be careful to communicate with it
properly so that the outcome is what we originally
planned.
Getting in touch and in tune with what
our mind and body need in order to operate at optimum
performance levels will provide us with the power to
design the body we want to live within. Dynamic,
permanent results can be yours by the simple art and
science of communication.
So I ask you, is it
possible that the answer to a lifelong struggle with
weight lies in how we communicate with ourselves? For
me, I know the answer is a resounding "Yes!" For you, I
offer the question.

| Changing Unwanted Habits |
| by Don
Currie | |
| |
 |
Maybe you decide to
begin going to the gym and become more physically
fit. You throw out the ice cream and the cookies.
You get a new pair of workout shoes. You get a
membership to your local fitness club. You begin
going to the gym three times a week and you start
eating the right foods.
| Then Friday night comes
along and you skip your workout, even though you had
planned on going. You get that tub of butterscotch
ripple and you dig in.
Breaking old patterns of
bad habits and behaviour is not easy. If it was easy we
would all be the perfect weight, be smoke free and all
have perfect lives. We become frustrated by trying the
same thing over and over to make the change and get
frustrated when it doesn't work.
Here are some
things you can do that make changing unwanted behaviours
much easier.
Try something different this
time. If you've tried going to the gym but find your
attendance lacking, perhaps joining a sports team would
be a better choice. If you're stopping smoking and have
tried cold turkey, maybe reducing the amount first is a
better choice. Come up with new ways to reach your goal!
Failure can be a positive thing if you
use it right. Learn from past failures by looking back
at those times. Make a choice to do something different
in the future when a similar situation arises.
Have a game plan and stick to it. If what
we're doing doesn't work for us, we tend to go back to
the old pattern of behaviour. Have a game plan that
includes a back-up plan, or even better, two! Having a
back-up plan increases our chance of success.
Go easy on yourself. Remember that you're
learning to do something different. That takes time.
Learning to type takes time, learning to read took time.
Be as gentle with yourself as you were when you were
learning to tie your shoe. Enjoy the experience of
change because it feels good when you finally make it!
Don Currie works with clients at OHC who want
to make effective changes in their lifestyle and
relationship habits, including weight loss, stress,
lifestyle patterns, smoking cessation and self esteem
issues. He is also a Past Life Regression facilitator.
