Welcome! |
One
of my close friends has a young daughter, and ever since
she could speak, we've played a game of "ask a
question." We take turns asking something we really want
to know about. And we have to answer from our heart.
|
 | When she was four I
asked her who she tells her secrets to. She told me her teddy
bear because he doesn't laugh at her. Now she is six and her
questions are getting more sophisticated. Last week she asked
me, "What does old feel like?"
After getting over the
shock of being considered old, I thought and answered from my
heart. It feels like me but more gentle than I was, and easier
than I was, and still as loving and always noticing that
everything is beautiful in its own way. It feels that it
doesn't matter if people think I'm crazy talking to the birds
and trees and flowers in the springtime. Just as long as a
certain smart six-year-old loves me, all is perfect with the
world.
And that's exactly it!

| Are You Reaching Your Goals? |
| by Dr. Georgina
Cannon | |
|
|
|
It's March now. Raise your hand if you set yourself
some goals or resolutions back in January. Now, keep
your hand up if you've actually stuck to your resolution
or achieved your goal.
Did your hand creep back
down? Don't worry - you're in good company.
Leaders, coaches and gurus of every stripe
exhort us to set goals. An entire segment of the
publishing industry is dedicated to setting goals. And
all of us, at one time or another, have set some sort of
goal. Yet many, many people fail to ever reach the goals
they've set.
Why?
What it boils down to
is that you have two parts: one part of you that really
wants to achieve your goal and another part of you
that's afraid to change. That second part doesn't want
you to achieve your goal because to do so would require
effort. It would require doing something differently
than how you already do it, and as far as it's
concerned, things are just peachy the way they are,
thank you very much.
The first part of you -
that's your conscious mind. The second part is your
subconscious mind. Its job is to protect you, to ensure
your physical survival, and it's an extremely powerful
force. In fact, your subconscious mind accounts for
about 90% of your total brain power.
It's so
potent that if you can get your subconscious mind
aligned with what your conscious mind wants - wow! You
can move mountains. You can achieve goals left, right
and center.
So the key to achieving your goals
is find ways to communicate with your subconscious mind
and convince it that your goal is really in its (your)
best interest.
How?
Hypnosis, of course,
works really for this because it's a way of getting your
conscious mind out of the way long enough to have a
frank and productive chat with your subconscious.
You must also set daily activities that will
move you towards your goal. Reaching a goal is like
pedaling a bicycle. You need to keep your eyes on your
destination to stay on course, but you also need to be
moving your feet. Without the activity of pedaling, you
never move any closer to the destination, no matter how
much you look at it. And when the bike's not moving, you
fall off.
When you fall, you get hurt. You get
disappointed. And remember, the job of your subconscious
mind is to protect you, so it doesn't like it when you
get hurt! It says, "We'll have no more of that!" and it
sabotages your efforts to get back on the bike.
Setting goals is definitely a worthwhile
endeavor that will help create the success you desire.
But you can set goals until the cows come home. The
whole point is to achieve your goals. Get the power of
your subconscious working with you instead of against
you, and you'll notice a dramatic difference in your
success rate.

Tip: Transforming Stress If you
stop leaking time and energy about just two or
three things, you'll find yourself feeling more
buoyant and energized. You'll develop the inner
power to sort through high-speed incoming
information, deal with emotional intensity and
weight, and handle the pace of the world around
you. Don't try to be perfect; just go for
improving your ratios of energy gain to energy
loss. Make it fun.

| Are You Afraid of Losing Control Under
Hypnosis? |
| by John
Wills | |
|
|
 |
Hypnosis is a safe, non-invasive
tool for facilitating changes in many areas.
Making a change is about learning something new.
Whether it's stress, smoking, extra weight, or
fears and phobias you want to deal with, to change
your situation you need to learn to do something
different. | Hypnosis is
gaining acceptance as a powerful tool for making these
changes but there are still some lingering
misconceptions about hypnosis that need to be dispelled.
One of the most common fears people have is that
while they are hypnotized they will be under the control
of the hypnotist. Along with this perceived loss of
control is the concern that they may do or say something
inappropriate.
These notions about hypnosis
usually come from having seen hypnosis in a stage show,
or perhaps in a movie or on television, where it seems
that the hypnotist has some Svengali-type power over the
person or persons being hypnotized.
The truth is
that there is no surrender of control with hypnosis --
even the stage show version. Hypnosis is not something
you are "put into" or "put under," although both of
these expressions are commonly used.
All
hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. It's an altered state
of consciousness that you allow yourself to be guided
into. Without your willingness, hypnosis won't happen.
Some people seem to go into a deeper state of
hypnosis more easily than other people, although the
more often you use hypnosis, the easier it is to achieve
deeper levels. But even in the deepest state of
hypnosis, if a suggestion seems inappropriate to you,
for whatever reason, you won't accept it.
It's
not uncommon in stage shows to see participants follow
only some, or in some cases none, of the suggestions
given by the hypnotist. This happens because the
suggestions don't seem appropriate to the participant.
Because the participant is in control, he or she does
not accept or follow the suggestion.
Hypnosis is
a tool for change. It can help you create new positive
behaviors that allow for a more rewarding life
experience, but only if you are willing. It's all up to
you.
